In the days before christmas we’re working on a new music video, with short film director Lars Smetsers. We’re looking forward to this collab. The music video will be released within a few months. We’re also looking forward to a bunch of concerts that we’re going to give in January and February. One of them will take place in De Brandweer in February. In January we’ll also give another Impro Livestream concert. More concert dates will follow within a few weeks.
On December 18th the Snob 2000 starts! From that day on, the playlist of that particular day will be published on a daily basis, until December 31. This means that the order of the list will be a surprise until the last day of 2023. Also for us and our songs. The Snob 2000 will be played daily on Pinguin Radio. Exciting!
On Thursday evening 21/12 we’ll give a radio interview on this local radio station about our new video in the making, near the shooting location.
We ask it every end of the year: voting for our songs in the yearly, Dutch Snob 2000. A position in this playlist gives us airplay on the radio and on Spotify, throughout the year. Not only during the last weeks of 2023, but it goes on in 2024. It takes only a few minutes of your time and hey, it’s nice to do: voting for all your personal favorite songs, plus 2 Chabliz-songs. This year we nominated 3 songs, although you can only vote for 2 songs per band. But the choice is yours: we nominated Nightporter, our Chabliz-version of New Dawn Fades and Bite my Tongue for a spot in this yearly Snob playlist. ‘Bite my Tongue’ is a coöperation with our colleagues from Dizzy Panda. Please choose 2 songs out of those 3 and we’ll thank you for ever! Go to this link to vote.
We gave another free, completely improvised livestream concert last Sunday. If you missed it, you can watch it here. We had excellent sound and good camerawork. There was one technical issue: the livestream didn’t open immediately and was available one hour after the start of the show…..quite weird. We apologize to the people who tried to watch the show live! We received several calls from the audience during the concert, but our phones were on mute. For that reason there was no livechat either. Anyway, it’s online now.
We also scheduled our next livestream concert in January. In January and February we’ll give a few live shows too. More dates will follow later. On top of that a new music video will be produced during the next couple of months. In the mean time we’re working on new repertoire.
We’re quite happy to announce our next, free, impro livestream concert on Sunday October the 8th, 8 PM CET. We’ll bring you completely improvised music, on grand piano, female vocals, double bass and synths. Anything can happen! Impro music is always exciting, it doesn’t exist untill it happens. Our improvised music is someting in-between pop, rock, jazz, world and classical music. All influences are present. Hopefully the sound will be as good as our most recent impro livestream.
Last month we gave our first ‘live-live’ impro set in the inspiring Barthkapel, an old chapel in The Hague. (We say ‘first’ because we usually play repertoire from our albums in live venues.) And there is more. In November we’re going to shoot a music video for our Senta song.
Currently we’re working on new material for our next album. This month our ‘Heroes and Foes’ album is one year old!
Hope to see you, virtually, on our free livestream concert on our YouTube channel on Sunday the 8th, at eight sharp PM CET.
We’re back from the Summer holidays. During the Summer Spotify Netherlands did put our new song, ‘Bite my Tongue,’ the collab with Dizzy Panda, on the Release Radar, which let our streams and, more important, our number of listeners rise up significantly, to more than 720 listeners in one month. The Summer is almost over now, so our numbers are declining again, which is normal a few months after the release. We’re in the rehearsal room again, working on brand new songs. And there are a few quite interesting songs we’re working on. One of them is an elaboration of one of our improvised pieces during our most recent impro livestream concert. Also, we’re working on a new music video of our Sentasong! That video will be ready in a few months. On top of that we give a few concerts again in September and October.
Exciting news: Today, on the 14th of July we released a new EP on all common music platforms (such as Spotify, Bandcamp, Apple Music, Soundcloud, Amazon, etc.) It’s a very special project, because our colleagues from Dizzy Panda asked us to remix/remake one of our songs and we did the same with one of theirs. They chose our original Glastonbury Grove song and made a complete new version of it. We chose their Bite my Tongue song and made a remake-duet, with their singer Ntll and our singer Petra. The melancholic triphop ballad got a cinematic atmosphere. Curious? You can listen to the new versions on Spotify here.
How come? Chabliz and Dizzy Panda both reached the Snob 2000 in December 2022; Dizzy Panda on position 1124 and Chabliz nearby on position 1122 (with New Dawn Fades). That’s how we discovered eachother.
Already several music journalists wrote about our new collab-EP. One of them is the Cool Top 20. (in English). And they placed our song on their New Music Friday playlist on Spotify. (edit 18/7). Also The Alternatieve Muziekman wrote about this new EP (in Dutch, and he added our music video -made by Dizzy Panda, they did a great job with that-). We already gave a few interviews too. And we just entered the Indie Advice List of Indie XL’s Free40 alternative charts!
Edit(15/7): Also, Ondergewaardeerde Liedjes (themselves!) published this interview by Willem Kamps, with Dizzy Panda and us. And Altfm published this article today, and played the song on the radio. And Maxazine followed later today with this in-depth interview with our singer Petra about the new EP and Chabliz in general.
Edit 18/7: Pinguin Radio published an article about our new EP in their Daily Digest and here on their Magazine. Nice!

And there is more. Last Sunday we gave live concerts on the Gluren bij de Buren garden Festival in Wageningen, with a good atmosphere, a great audience and beautiful weather. You can watch a few pictures here. Two weeks earlier we gave a free, fully improvised Livestream Concert. You can rewatch that impro concert here. If you don’t have much time, we recommend you to watch the (better) second half of this livestream concert.
AND in August we’re going to shoot a new music video! The video release is expected this autumn.
Just confirmed: Chabliz plays live on the Gluren bij de Buren Festival in Wageningen, on Sunday afternoon, the 2nd of July. It would be great to meet you there! Free entry.
People who can’t see us live will have a chance to watch our free livestream Impro concert on Sunday evening June 18th. Our Impro concert last March was interesting enough to give another, completely improvised concert again. Of course it’s also possible to watch all concerts, for the Impro livestream will be quite different from the live concerts in Wageningen, where we’ll play our usual repertoire, with songs from our four released albums, including the new Heroes and Foes album.
And there is more. Perhaps you already know that we’re working on a remake of a song, originally written and recorded by Dizzy Panda. They do a remix of one of our songs and we do the same with one of theirs. An interesting cooperation! The twin-single release is expected this summer.
We’ll also work on a new music video of one of the songs of our new album. More about that later…
Our new album received a beautiful 4,5 star review by Jan Didden on Festivalinfo last month, and of course we’re quite pleased with that. It’s a review in Dutch.
And on Sunday evening, the 18th of June we’ll give a very special, free Livestream Impro concert. Our Impro concert last March was interesting enough to give another, completely improvised concert again!
One of our more jazzy songs has been added to a new Spotify playlist now, with Dutch women in Jazz. As you know our songs vary from indie/ alternative artpop and pop-noir to (gothic-)jazz and rock, but it’s nice to be on this playlist too!

And on Sunday evening, March the 19th we’ll give a very special, free Livestream concert. This time we’ll do it slightly different: you will be able to give us a key in the live chat. We will have a look and improvise in that key. This time we’ll only play one song of our usual repertoire. The rest of the set will be completely improvised!
