Concerts & reviews

In January we discovered a review (by ‘De Muziekplank’) that we didn’t mention before, although it was the very first review that we actually received about our new album (yes, we’re near-sighted moles). It’s a good review in Dutch and you can find it here. We’ll give more concerts, the first live concerts that we’ll give take place on the Gluren bij de Buren Festival in Gouda, on Sunday afternoon, February the fifth. We’ll give three short concerts of 30 minutes each during that afternoon. Free entry, and we would love to meet you there!

In March we’ll give a very special livestream concert again; this time we’ll improvise live on a few chords, given by the audience, and we’ll use extra synths and sounds. We’re working on more concerts too, so keep an eye on our concert dates!

In the mean time, more radio stations play our songs. One of them is Alternative FM. Also Pinguin Radio and Radio 5 played our songs lately.

We wish you a happy 2023!

We wish you a beautiful and healthy 2023! This year started well for us with a good review in the ‘Muziekwereld,’ a Dutch printed music magazine. Also, we reached our highest position ever in the yearly Snob 2000 with our Nightporter song, which reached position 300 in the last days of December. This year we entered the Snob 2000 with three songs; our newest entry is New Dawn Fades, which reached position 1122, and the other entry (Moon) reached position 862. And that’s all thanks to your votes for our songs. Thank you very much for that!

2022 was an interesting year for all of us. The year started with corona, our singer was in isolation in the study room for two weeks because she had corona, just like many others. Nevertheless we gave a zoom interview with all three bandmembers to Flo from KMS reviews. Our just released New Dawn Fades song entered the Dutch Indie Advice List and the Top 40 of For the love of music. We also reached the nineth position of Pinguin radio’s Streamsonic event on ESNS. It became February and the war in Ukraine started, and together with that a new cold war and inflation in Europe. But life goes on and musicians will always make music. We gave concerts on festivals (Gluren bij de Buren, Gouda Leeft and the Knapsack Festival) and also several Livestream Concerts, one of them on Composers Day. In the mean time we worked hard on our new album. In May was the release party of the beautiful ‘Cancelled’ book, a book with pictures of and interviews with Dutch artists like Francis van Broekhuizen, Trijntje Oosterhuis, Michael Varekamp, Simone Kleinsma, Karin Bloemen and many more. And us.

During the summer holidays something bad happened; our albums were removed from Spotify, Apple Music and several other platforms because our old aggregator was shut down, taking innocent bands with them in their decline. We had to put them all over again on the platforms with a new agregator and were silenced for more than a month because of this mismanagement by a company. Luckily we were back on the platfoms after five weeks of silence. October however was a great month for us, our brand new album Heroes and Foes was released, both physical (as a good old CD) as on the music platforms like Spotify, Apple music, Bandcamp and all the others. We celebrated our new album with a well-visited live album release concert in the beautiful Barthkapel in the centre of The Hague. We were surprised that so many people bought the physical CD, but perhaps that was also because of the beautiful artwork by David Gosker and Kalipluche. Last summer we also recorded a beautiful live string trio for our single Wings of the Night, which we released in December. This single was played a.o. on Pinguin Pluche and KRO-NCRV’s Volgspot Radio, with a radio interview. In December we also gave an interview to the Dutch AD newspaper and a Livestream concert for the people (abroad and in Holland) who missed our albumrelease concert. During the last months of 2022 we also received several beautiful album reviews.

In 2023 we work on new songs and music videos. Actually we already wrote a few new songs, which aren’t recorded yet. In February we’ll release an updated ‘Making of’ video of our new ‘Heroes and Foes’ album. In February we’ll also play live on the ‘Gluren bij de Buren’ festival again, this time in Gouda. And we’ll give more live concerts and livestreams. Keep an eye on our concerts pages for updates. Our next livestream concert will be quite interesting: more synths AND we’ll give a live improvisation show with live jams. In 2023 we also hope to release a new EP or one or more new singles. We wish you lots of inspiration and good music for 2023, and hopefully this year will be a better year, with more peace and less violence and poverty in Europe and the rest of the world.

Pim, Marcel & Petra.

Chabliz reached the Snob 2000 again

Today our version of New Dawn Fades reached position 1122 in the Snob 2000 of Pinguin Radio and Ondergewaardeerde Liedjes! During the last week of 2023 we’ll find out if our other entry Nightporter also made it to this beautiful playlist. That’s still a surprise… New Dawn Fades will be played on Pinguin Radio today (between 6 PM and 7 PM) and the song was added to the Snob 2000 playlist on Spotify. Edit: Our Moon song also reached the Snob, on position 862! 🙂 AND we just received this great review of our new single and album by KMS Reviews! (updated 27/12).

Also, we’ll give a Free Livestream Concert on Friday evening, December 30th, 8 PM CET (Dutch time) on our YouTube channel. Hopefully we’ll see you there!

We wish you a beautiful Xmas and a good end of the year! Keep you posted!

New single out now!

We received two beautiful reviews of our new album ‘Heroes and Foes’ (in Dutch). A fantastic review on the Subjectivisten and another great review on Alternative FM. We are grateful for that. Also, we gave an interview in the Dutch AD newspaper.

And on top of that, our new single Wings of the Night is out now! The single is available on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music and on several other music platforms. You can find the lyrics here. The single was already played on several stations; among them the Pinguin Pluche radiostation. The song is also placed in playlists on Spotify. ‘Wings of the Night’ is a popballad about grief, but in a quite positive, optimistic and almost naive way. The lyrics are about dreams where you meet your lost loved ones again. Are they real or is it just a dream? We’ll never know.

And did you miss our live albumrelease concert in The Hague in October? Soon we’ll give at least two more concerts. On December 30th we’ll give another free Livestream concert on our YouTube channel. We’ll play the songs from the albumrelease show for our fans abroad and everybody else who missed the concert. And in February we’ll play live in Gouda again. Watch our concert dates for more details.

(this article was updated on Dec. 20th).

The Snob 2000 and new reviews

We received two beautiful reviews (in Dutch). A fantastic review on the Subjectivisten and another great review on Alternative FM. We are grateful for that.

And…. it’s time to vote again in the yearly Snob 2000. Three Chabliz-songs are nominated for this important yearly event: Moon, Nightporter and New Dawn Fades (two original songs and one coversong). Why is it important to vote for Chabliz? The playlist is THE place where Dutch alternative music and indie lovers can discover Chabliz, because the people in Holland who love alternative, quality pop and rockmusic listen to the Snob 2000 by ‘Ondergewaardeerde Liedjes.’ The chosen 2000 songs are on the radio during the last two weeks of the year, and the playlist of these songs is on Spotify all year long! Many people listen to this playlist. So….. if you like Chabliz, then vote. It’s nice to think about the other songs and bands that you love too. Which songs and bands do you love? Who deserves a spot next to Chabliz?

Brand new album: Heroes and Foes

Last week we gave an albumrelease concert in the beautiful Barthkapel in the centre of The Hague. Many people visited the concert and bought the old-school digipack album, beautifully designed by David Gosker (collages) and Karianne Hylkema (graphic design). The atmosphere was great and our music seemed to fit in this old chapel. Watch the pictures of the concert here and here. And now our ‘Heroes and Foes’ album is released! The album is available now on several platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Amazon, Bandcamp, Deezer, Soundcloud, YouTube and many other platforms! The first media publications about the album release (in Dutch) are on Pinguin Radio and Maxazine. You’ll find the lyrics here. The album was made possible by Sena Performers.

You’re invited to our free Album Release Concert

We received our new album, called ‘Heroes and Foes,’ from the factory now and it will be released on Sunday afternoon, October the 16th, 4 PM. Then we will give our new albumrelease concert in the beautiful old Barthkapel  in the centre of The Hague! And to give the opportunity to everybody to visit this concert in these harsh times the admission is totally free. The concert will take place in the old chapel in Brouwersgracht 2K (near het Paard and het Koorenhuis). Chabliz will play songs from the new album and one older song. Drinks are not for free, but not expensive either (and not obliged of course). Please be there in time, because you might need to ring the doorbell to get in (the doorbell will be switched off on 16.15). Doors open on 15.45. Looking forward to meet you there!

On the same day our new album will be available on all the streaming platforms, such as Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Deezer, Bandcamp, Soundcloud, YouTube, etc.

Curious? You can pre-save this brand new album already on Spotify here, (you might need to scroll down), then it will pop up in your music library on the release day, and you could be one of the first people to listen to it.
