Our interpretation of Joy Division’s legendary song ‘New Dawn Fades’ reached the Top 40 charts of music blog For The Love Of Music, right under Beach House. And there is more; the song also reached the Dutch Indie Advice List (on January the first and on January 8th, week 1). But most of all we are happy with the new review (in Dutch) on Ondergewaardeerde Liedjes. Our new songs appear on several playlists now. A few days ago we gave an interview on Zoom to Florian from KMS Reviews. This ‘Quick Shots’ interview will be published shortly.
Update January 24th: We just heard that our music video reached the top ten on the ESNS Streamsonic event, launched by Pinguin Radio! We reached number nine in their charts.
First of all, we wish you a very happy and healthy 2022! We had a good start of 2022 with recording sessions in the first week of the year, working on our next studio album. We also released our new music video just a few days ago, and that’s a quite different one than our other videos. The making of ‘In Bluebeard’s Garden‘ is our very first behind-the-scenes documentary film about the EP recordings (and some of our album recordings) last summer. You can watch it here:
The first results of these recording sessions are here:
During the next few months we continue working on our next complete album, that is due to be released in May or June. We also give livestream concerts (the next one is planned in March) and a few ‘real’ live concerts, corona volente.
We’re happy to tell you that our new EPis out now. It has been released on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Deezer, Amazon, Shazam, Soundcloud, Bandcamp and several other music platforms already. If you’re looking for the songs on your favourite music channel, this can be a handy tool. (You might need to scroll down to the right links). And you find the EP on Spotify here:
And we’re glad to inform you that, thanks to the votes of some of you, we’ve made it to the Dutch Snob 2000 charts again! Our ‘Moon‘ song reached number 507 and ‘Nightporter ‘reached number 599. We would like to thank everybody who voted for us again and also the people of the Snob 2000 for all the hard work to make this happen. You find the complete chartlist on Spotify underneath:
Two of the three songs on our new EP are written by ourselves. The other song, track 1, is a tribute recording of Joy Division‘s‘New Dawn Fades.’ Two of our bandmembers are fans of this legendary band. Pim made a large, orchestral arrangement for it, Petra used operatic vocals and on top of that Pim and Petra produced a choir together.
The title song ‘InBluebeard’s Garden‘ is a more jazzy song. Everybody knows the famous legend about Bluebeard a.k.a. Henry the 8th and his six wives. We wrote a song about this gothic fairytale and recorded the song with a beautiful string arrangement (made by Pim) and a choir of six women (Anna Rallo, Catself, Kalipluche a.k.a. Karianne, Caroline Ros, Gudrun Blok and Petra herself) who sing the role of Bluebeard’s (mainly dead) wives, whose ghosts are still wandering through his delightful garden. The song has a touch of a Kate Bush vibe. The violins and cellos are played by Natasja van Doesburg and Giselle Bentvelsen. Curious? You can find the EP here. (You might need to scroll down for the right link to your favourite music channel). This EP is already a small part of the album that we’ll release in the Spring of 2022.
We wish you a good Christmas under the circumstances and a happy and healthy New Year in these difficult, dark times. Stay safe!

We are giving a coronaproof, totally freeLivestream Concert together with the marvellous singer-songwriter Catself this Sunday, December the 12th. And also, we’re releasing a new EP: ‘In Bluebeard’s Garden.‘ The release will be on Friday, December the 17th. You can already pre-save the EP on your Spotify-, Apple-Music, Amazon and iTunes app here.
By pre-saving the main song of the EP will appear in the Release Radar of your Spotify or Apple Music app on the release day. You will be able to listen to it on the 17th and afterwards. It’s totally free, and it helps us to get higher in the Spotify and Apple rankings, which means: more people will hear and play the songs. Two of the three new songs are written by ourselves. The third song is a tribute recording of Joy Division‘s ‘New Dawn Fades.’ Two of our bandmembers are fans of this legendary band. Pim made a large, orchestral arrangement for it, Petra used operatic vocals and on top of that Pim and Petra produced a choir together.

On December the 4th we gave a live performance in Voorburg, on Write for Rights. You can watch a few pictures of the concert on our Instagram channel.
Last but not least: the book ‘Cancelled, by Anoek‘ will be released very soon. It was in the printery three weeks ago, so it will reach the bookshops soon. It’s a beautiful book with pictures of several Dutch artists who perform in empty venues during the coronacrisis. Chabliz is one of them.
Some of you voted our songs (hopefully!) into the Snob 2000. Thank you very much for that!!! On December the 17th, the same day as our EP release, we’ll hear wether we reached the Snob 2000 list or not……. that release date might give us some luck. Untill that day we’ll keep our fingers crossed and we’ll let you know of course!
Despite all the corona troubles in Holland, Europe and overseas we’re having a quite busy month with Chabliz. First of all we would like to ask you to vote for our Nightporter and Moon songs in the yearly Snob 2000 list, that’s the Dutch alternative and ‘little sister’ of the big and famous Top 2000. You can vote for us here. Why should you? Because it helps us enormously; we see its influence in the airplay, on the radio, but even more in the airplay on Spotify and Apple Music. Even more important: the audience of the Snob 2000 is broadly speaking exactly the audience we’re trying to reach with our music: lovers of indie, alternative, underground music, pop-noir, jazz and artpop. Thanks to your votes we managed the last three years to make it to the Snob 2000 and we really hope to reach this goal again. It’s possible to vote until December the first.
And there is more. Two live appearances, the first is ‘live-live’ (in the flesh!) on December the fourth in the centre of Voorburg at Amnesty’s Write For Rights. And we are giving a coronaproof, free Livestream Concert together with the marvellous singer-songwriter Catself on December the 12th. On top of that we’re releasing a new EP: ‘In Bluebeard’s Garden.‘ The release will be on December the 17th. You can already pre-save the EP on your Spotify-, Apple-Music and iTunes app here.

Due to the corona circumstances at the moment we unfortunately had to postpone our next Livestream concert with the marvellous Catself to Sunday evening the 12th of December, same time and place. We also give a small live morning concert on December the 4th, on Amnesty international’s Write For Rights in the old center of Voorburg. The book ‘Cancelled, by Anoek‘ with also pictures of Chabliz is at the printery right now. It will be available in the shops very soon! We recommend this book to everybody who is interested in beautiful photographs of the cultural sector during corona. Last but not least: we uploaded our new EP ‘In Bluebeard’s Garden’ and you can already presave it on Spotify! The release date is on Friday, the 17th of December.
Good news: our friend and colleague Karianne Hylkema just made a brand new lyric video of our good old Moon song. And its release is today, on Halloween! We are quite happy with this tasteful video. And there is more. We give a new, real, live-live concert (our first since corona) in December in Voorburg. And on November the 21st we give a new, free Livestream concert together with the beautiful international singer-songwriter Catself! And there is even more good news. In December we will release our brand new EP: ‘In Bluebeards Garden.’ Another lyric video is soon to come. And we just heard that the book ‘Cancelled by Anoek‘ was sent to the printery. It will be available very soon now. We are in the book too, with beautiful pictures and a quote, among several other Dutch artists.
We were very much looking forward to our concert in KOFA this weekend. It was scheduled for October the 2nd and it would be our first real live-live concert for a real audience instead of only one cameraman…. but it wasn’t supposed to be. As a band we agree with most of the governments corona measures and also with the measure to show your corona check app before you enter a concert, because we think it’s important to show solidarity with people who are vulnurable for the virus, and to keep them safe. Not all venues can afford a big doorkeeper to check all the visitors, and the venues aren’t compensated for it. Some pubs and venues have clients who aren’t vaccinated yet. Kofa is a night venue, concerts usually start and end late. With the new rules all venues must close at midnight. That’s one of the reasons why Kofa decided to cancel all their scheduled concerts, which is unfortunate for the bands who finally could play again after more than a year of livestreams only.
Instead we scheduled another free Livestream concert for you, in November. This time together with the Finnish singer-songwriter Catself. Catself is a great singer-songwriter who plays piano and guitar, she has beautiful songs with fantastic lyrics, sometimes quite dark and sometimes funny. AND we will play one song together. Expect a great sound, grand piano, Moog synths, guitars, double bass and two female vocalists. And a great atmosphere, with nice camerawork.
In October we are recording and mixing our new EP and album. Our next EP will be released this Autumn, which means: soon. Also, the book Cancelled, by Anoek with pictures of several Dutch artists including Chabliz, will be released soon.
Yesterday we received this great review of our single Beyond the Tides, by Florian Maier from KMS Reviews. Of course we are quite grateful for that! In August we also had a good recording week, where we recorded a few songs for our next EP and album. In September and October we will give a few concerts again, one of them is a Livestream concert, the other is our first real live concert since corona. Also in September will be the release of the book Cancelled, by Anoek. This is a book with beautiful pictures of several Dutch artists during corona and we are very proud to be one of them. It will be available in the bookshops later this month. We would be glad to meet you at our next concerts, online or live in Kofa Vlaardingen.
By the way, for our Dutch friends: did you already hear this interview (in Dutch) with our singer Petra? It was recorded in August by Wat Nou Als Het Lukt. The interview starts in the second part of the podcast (but the first part is interesting too!).
