During this week we are recording, arranging and mixing new songs for our next EP and album. We started last Tuesday, this is our fifth studio day. Finally that’s possible again, since we all received both vaccinations. For pictures of the process, go to our Insta, facebook or Twitter account. We also shoot a ‘making of’ video, for after the release.
Today the interview with our singer Petra came online in the podcast ‘Wat nou als het lukt.’ The interview is in Dutch and is quite entertaining. Scroll to the second part of the show to listen to the interview, or listen to the first part too, that’s an interview with our colleague musician and singer-songwriter Joep Knols. And of course you’ll hear two of our songs in this podcast as well.
Our new single ‘Beyond the Tides’ is now also released on Amazon and Deezer. And it will be soon on Apple Music too. It is released on Spotify on the 2nd of July. You can find the lyrics plus the live version (which is quite different from the studio version) here. One suggestion for Spotify users: if you put your Canvas on in your app, you’ll see our little Canvas movie while you listen to the song.
We also booked a few new concerts, you can find them on the homepage of this site, and also here. In September and October we will give a few live concerts, real live concerts, with a live audience again, which is great after all the lockdowns! One of them will be in KOFA. And we’ll also give a new livestream concert in September. We decided to go on with the livestream concerts anyway, aside the live concerts in Holland. It gives our fans and friends abroad the chance to see us live.
During the summer we enter the studio again to record, mix and master the songs for our next EP, which is expected in the autumn, and for our next album, to be released in the first half of 2022. We already recorded several songs, but they still need a thorough mixing and mastering.
And in September the beautiful book Cancelled by Anoek will be published by publishing company ‘Uitgeverij Komma.’ It will be available in the Dutch bookshops and online from September. We and many other artists posed for this book. A few of the artists who are included in the book are Trijntje Oosterhuis, Francis van Broekhuizen, Michael Varekamp, Martine Sandifort, Karin Bloemen, Tim Akkerman, Freek de Jonge, Paul de Leeuw, Simone Kleinsma, Pia Douwes and several other artists. And, of course, Chabliz.
Our new single ‘beyond the Tides’ is just released on Spotify. You can read the lyrics here, we are kind of proud of them. It’s a poetic duet (yes, a duet! With Pim, our pianist!) about hope and fear, a pop-rockballad that we wrote and recorded during the corona lockdowns. It’s a song about the sea, the sea that gives and takes, but this sea is also a metaphor for all kinds of challenges that people can experience during their lives. One of them is this corona pandemic, but also other, more personal crises.
During the next days the song will appear on many other music platforms, like Apple Music too. This is the hyperfollow link. The single recording is quite different than the live version. It’s a male-female duet. And we chose a poprock ballad approach, with drums and a seventies- Minimoog synthesizer solo in the middle of the song. We also added two beautiful (real!) violintracks in the song. Enjoy, and give us a green heart if you like the track on Spotify:
Yesterday evening we gave another livestream concert again. Usually 80 to 90% of the songs played are written by ourselves, but this time this was the case for 100%, for the first time in our livestream sessions. You can still watch the concert here:
Next Friday, on the 2nd of July we release our brand new upcoming single ‘Beyond the Tides!’
You can already presave this single here, (it’s free and it takes no more than literally 2 seconds of your time) on you Spotify or Apple Music app. The more people who do this, the more exposure the single will get. And then you’re one of the first people who’ll hear it! Thank you very much in advance for it!
The live version of our upcoming single Beyond the Tides is highlighted this week on the Streamsonic platform of Pinguin Radio. If you’re curious of the live version of our upcoming single, then you can watch the live video here. The single will be released on the 2nd of July. It’s already possible to pre-save it on your Spotify app, then you will see it in your release radar automatically.
And there is more. On Sunday evening, June the 27th we will give another free, online livestream concert, this time again with two brand new songs and four(!) live cameras. We start on 8.30 PM. Only IF the Dutch footballteam has to delay the European Championship match because of extra penalties (and we certainly don’t hope for that!) we could start fifteen minutes later.
Finally we are able to release our new single ‘Beyond the Tides.’ You can already pre-save our new single right now. Then it will show automatically in the release radar at the homepage of your Spotify app. Are you using Apple Music instead? No problem, the single will be released there too on the second of July. Just visit this webpage already right now to hyperfollow Chabliz and to listen to our new single as soon as it’s released.
Our next livestream concert will be on the 27th of June. Last Sunday we had the first rehearsal for it, after almost one month of corona quarantine for Marcel, our bassplayer.
The good news is that our ‘Beyond the tides’ single is finally completely ready. Yesterday evening Pim put the finishing touches to the master. The song will be released at the end of June.
The bad news is that we had to postpone our livestream concert again, this time to June 27, because Marcel, our bassplayer, is recovering from corona. He is quite good on track with his recovery, but it’s a bit too early to give a concert already, because we couldn’t rehearse for a few weeks because of his quarantine and, after that, his illness. We hope to rehearse together again next week and we wish him a speedy and complete recovery!
Dear friends, due to the corona-quarantine of Marcel, our bassplayer, our online livestream concert unfortunately had to be postponed from May the 16th to June the 6th (8.30 PM CET). We’re still looking forward to play for you again! We were just glad that we could play in the evening again after the curfew had been ended, but now our bassplayer is in a quarantaine…… Anyway, in June we’ll bring you a few brand new songs, four camera’s instead of three, a great sound and a very good atmosphere. We’ll meet you there (online), on our YouTube channel.
It was great to play for you again after two months of lockdown! Our last concert was filmed by three cameras and the sound was very good. We played two brand new songs for you and a few of our ‘golden oldies.’ And of course a few songs from our regular repertoire. This time we had extra keys, with several sounds, and a real Minimoog synthesizer! People who missed it can watch the concert here:
Within six weeks, on Sunday, May 16 we will play live for you again with our next livestream concert.
